How dangerous is hepatitis B?

You need to Know

Hepatitis B is an infection of the liver. In some cases, during the healing process, it can cause scarring of the liver (known as cirrhosis), liver failure, and cancer. It can be fatal if it isn't treated (this is not in all cases!). It is spread in the same way HIV is transmitted. It's spread when people come in contact with the blood, open sores, or body fluids of someone who has the hepatitis B virus.

Luckily, there exists a potent vaccine against hepatitis B, as well as effective treatment.
